Masters in Environmental Law in Kenya

The philosophy of this programme is to inspire learners to play a leading role in environmental decisions and policy initiatives. In order to qualify for admission to the Master`s program, prospective students must have the following minimum qualifications: Environmental degradation is one of the greatest challenges of the 21st century. In response, individuals, civil societies, business organizations, academia and governments around the world are pursuing environmental sustainability as a policy goal. This has been supported by a number of new policies ranging from international agreements, national strategies, environmental laws and local plans. These culminated in the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2015. Despite these efforts, decades of scientific evidence show that the world has not moved closer to environmental sustainability. There is therefore an increased need for innovation in the design and implementation of environmental policies. However, there is not enough expertise to meet this need, especially on the African continent. The aim of this programme is to provide the learner with a broad knowledge, skills and attitudes that strengthen leadership in the practice of environmental policy and the promotion of science. The programme should therefore anchor learners in multidisciplinary research and development of innovative solutions to environmental challenges.
