Six Legal Services Society employees are currently working in the new space, providing free legal assistance to low-income people in Bedford, Coffee, Franklin, Grundy, Lincoln, Moore and Warren counties. The Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands advocates for fairness and justice before the law. The not-for-profit law firm offers free civil law representation and educational programs to help people in their area get justice, protect their well-being and support ways to overcome poverty. It serves 48 counties from offices in Clarksville, Columbia, Cookeville, Gallatin, Murfreesboro, Nashville, Oak Ridge, and Tullahoma. The Legal Aid Society is funded in part by the United Way. LASMTC only takes care of legal matters for which a person cannot go to jail. If you have a criminal case, you should call the Public Defender`s Office.
