Legal Aid Antelope Valley

Our education advocates provide free legal advice to Antelope Valley Public School students and their families. We provide legal assistance to uphold education rights and promote the success of all students through school district advocacy, parent education, direct representation, and counseling. The NLSLA is currently seeking an attorney to work at the Antelope Valley Self-Help Legal Access Center. The attorney is responsible for working with NLSLA staff and volunteers to operate a Los Angeles County Legal Access Self-Help Center in the Antelope Valley Courthouse. The staff attorney will help guide site staff in assisting and training self-represented litigants in various civil matters, including family and housing matters. The lawyer will also prepare educational materials and information and share them with the public to facilitate access to justice. The court`s new Mutual Assistance Services Catalogue was created to help the public find legal services offered by the Los Angeles Superior Court, the State Court of California and various legal aid partners. Roles and responsibilities: Work with the judiciary, court staff and partner authorities to improve access to the courts. Review court briefs and conduct legal research, assist in organizing family, consumer, housing or individual workshops. Train and supervise students and other volunteers working at the centre.
